Eland Reaves, 64, of Ashland, MS, transitioned on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Ashland Health & Rehab, Ashland, MS
Eland Reaves was born on February 9, 1960 to the late Johnnie Brown, Sr. and Mary Young Reaves, in Michigan City, MS. On Thursday, May 2, 2024, he transitioned at Ashland Health & Rehabilitation in Ashland, MS.
Eland accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Everett Chapel M.B. Church in Michigan City, MS. He was a graduate of Ashland High School and Northwest Community College. Eland served as a Board Member in Ashland, MS, and a Deputy Sheriff with Benton County Sheriff’s Department. He was employed as a security officer for several years. He loved hunting, fishing, and being around his family. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Memphis Tigers basketball, and Chicago Bears football.
Eland leaves to cherish his memories: wife Rosie King Reaves of Holly Springs, MS; two sons: Eric Reaves of Buford, GA, and Leland Reaves of Holly Springs, MS; two daughters: Tiffiney Reaves Barksdale (Larry) and Sadie Reaves both of Holly Springs, MS; three brothers: Johnny Brown, Jr. of Michigan City, MS, Rinnix Brown of Grand Junction, TN, and Kenivel Brown of Lamar, MS; two bonus brothers: Eddie Murdock, and Willie Murdock (Gloria) both of Michigan City, MS; four sisters: Van Shaw (Dwight), Monique Murden (Ronell), and Karbicca Brown all of Michigan City, MS, and Karachia McKinnie (Willie) of Grand Junction, TN; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild; one great aunt: Alice Young of Grand Junction, TN; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Eland was preceded in death by his loving parents: Johnnie Brown, Sr. and Mary Young Reaves; two brothers: Tracy Brown, and Wayne Brown; one bonus brother: Rayford Murdock; one sister: Doris Barksdale; and one nephew: Tylerious Brown.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Samuel Chapel M.B. Church, Ashland, MS 38603
