Dorothy Lee Harris

Dorothy  Lee Harris,  66 transitioned on October 11,  2023, at her residence in Water Valley, MS

On Tuesday, June 4, 1957, God dispatched a warm sweet baby girl to this earth that grew into an amazing woman.  Dorothy will always be a Joy of Laughter to her family and so many others that encounter her sweet spirit.  Dorothy confessed Christ at an early age, she was baptized at Old Rock Hill M.B. Church in Sardis, MS under the leadership of (Rev. Buchan) Bishop.

She attended North Panola High School in Sardis, MS. 

Dorothy was proceeded in death by her parents, Viola Thomas of Sardis, MS and Joe Wilbourn of Como, MS, one brother Leroy Norwood, her grandson, David Devon Burton, Jr., two special friends, Buddy “Spoke” Ballentine and Eddie Hugges.

She leaves to cherish her life and memories of her three lovely children, son William Norwood of Memphis, TN, daughters, Dorothy Norwood of Sardis, MS, and Brenda Norwood of Memphis, TN, sisters Ruby Lee, Ella Mae Norwood Harmon (Michael), Betty Hill (Frank), Lula Bell Danner, Betty Garrett, and Velma Ward, brothers, Mack Norwood (Verlene), James Harris, Robert Norwood, Willie Hunt, Willie Earl Wilbourn (Sonia), Joe Wilbourn, Jr., Larry Green, Ivory Wilbourn, El Roy Wilbourn, Willie Roy Wilbourn, WL Garrett (Clara). Grandchildren, DeMichael Norwood, Shaquita Norwood, David Burton, Jr., and Shaketta Cathey, twelve great grandchildren, stepchildren, Sharon Ebron, Carolyn MedCafe, Shari Gail Smith, Titus Flower, Eric Flower, Glenn Reese, Bobby Walton, and Marshall Turner. A host of nieces, nephews, and a special niece Gloria Lee.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, 10:00 a m. to 11:59 p.m., and Services to follow at 12:00 p.m., at St. Peter M B. Church, 433 Fondren Road, Sardis, MS 38666.

Burial will take place at Rock Hill M.B. Church, 11880 Ballentine Road, Sardis, MS 38666.
