Deacon Neovia George Lipsey, 68, transitioned on Thursday, August 18, 2021 at Panola Medical Center in Batesville, MS.
Deacon Neovia George Lipsey was born August 19, 1952 to the late Albert Lipsey and Bennie Shannon Gibbs. He departed this life for his heavenly home on August 18, 2021, at Panola Medical Center in Batesville, MS.
Neovia accepted Christ into his life at an early age and joined Golden Gate Cathedral Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Supt. Robert Lee Hamilton, Sr. He was the guitarist for Golden Gate Choir, sang and played for Golden Gate Male Chorus, and served faithfully on the deacon board until death.In addition to playing for his church family, he enjoyed traveling and playing for various quartet groups.
He graduated from Myrtle High School and continued his education at Northeast Mississippi Community College, pursuing a career in trade. Afterwards, hebegan working for various manufacturing companies in Union County. He later served as a friendly Walmart greeter until his health failed him.
He is survived by his five children, Randy Green of Tupelo, MS, Reggie (Elke) Lipsey, Cedric (Georgina) Lipsey, Tracy (Anthony) Lipsey, and Stacy Lipsey all of New Albany, MS; one brother, Alvis Lipsey of New Albany, MS; three sisters, Mary Montgomery of New Albany, MS, Queenie Harris of East St. Louis, IL, and Evelyn (Lorenzo) Toney of Milwaukee, WI; nineteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Lipsey and Bennie (Fred) Gibbs and; three brothers, Clemmie Shannon, Jimmy Lipsey, and Frank Lipsey.
Services will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 2p.m., at New Birth Community Church in New Albany with Pastor Robert L. Hamilton, Jr., delivering the eulogy. Burial will take place at Gerizum Cemetery in Myrtle, MS. Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 4-6p.m., at the funeral home.
