Deacon Charles Sanders Obituary

Deacon Charles Edward Sanders, 69, transitioned on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Baptist-DeSoto Hospital in Southaven, MS.

He was born on October 21, 1950 to Carldon L. and Kattie Mae Sanders in New Albany, MS. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was a faithful servant of the Lord. He was an active member of Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in New Albany, MS where he served in multiple capacities, most recently, as Chairman of the Deacon Board. Throughout his time at Zion Chapel, he also served as church treasurer, Sunday School teacher, chairman of the kitchen committee, church custodian, assistant Sunday School Superintendent, and was a former member of the adult choir. His work at Zion Chapel was much appreciated.

Charles worked at Mohasco for over 20 years and retired from New Albany Industries. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, and watching sports.

Charles was also a loving, caring man who worked in the community as a baseball coach to the youth and his 2 sons. He was a son, a husband, and a devoted father who loved his family. He graduated from W.P. Daniel High School in 1971, where he was a member of the varsity baseball team. While in high school, he met the love of his life, Mary Lynn Johnson. Charles and Mary were united in holy matrimony on December 23, 1972. To this union, they had 3 children: Charles Frederick, Monica Patrell, and Patrick Lynn Sanders.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 47 years, Mary Lynn Sanders; 2 sons, Charles Frederick (Brenda) of Collierville, TN and Patrick Lynn of Pasadena, CA; 1 daughter, Monica Gray of New Albany, MS; 4 grandchildren: Charles Avery Sanders and Adriauna Danielle Sanders of Collierville, TN, Noah Lee Gray of New Albany, MS, and Nicolette Joy Sanders of Pasadena, CA; 1 sister, Inice Walker of St. Louis, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carldon L. Sanders; his mother, Kattie M. Sanders; his sister, Eunice Spiller; and 3 brothers, K.C., W.J., and Idolos Sanders.

Bro. Charles E. Sanders leaves behind a legacy of selfless service that will be remembered for a lifetime.

Congratulations Charles E. Sanders on a job well done to a loving, faithful, and humble servant.
