Darrin Monteze Smith, Sr., “Ted” was born on October 29, 1980, in Memphis, TN, to Diane and Gaston Smith, and later raised by Cliff Cowan III.
Darrin confessed his life to Christ at an early age and united with Calvin Chapel United Methodist Church, in Holly Springs, MS.
He loved fishing, cars, cooking, his children and grandchildren, and he loved dogs. He attended Holly Springs High School, class of 1996. He was employed at Air One of Memphis, TN and later became self-employed.
He married his wife, Qournekia Fields-Smith, March 2017, and to this union his three precious children were born.
Darrin leaves to cherish his memories his parents: Diane and Cliff Cowan III, and Gaston Smith, all of Holly Springs, MS; his grandmothers: Odessa Hughes and Louise Riddle; his wife: Qournekia Fields-Smith of Memphis, TN; two daughters, Morgan Smith of Memphis, TN and Destiny Howell of Ripley, MS; two sons, Darrin Smith, Jr. and Darrion Smith, both of Memphis, TN; three brothers: Gaston L. Smith of Holly Springs, MS, Sean Blake of Killeen, TX, and Cliff Cowan IV of Olive Branch, MS; four sisters: Synetra Cowan (John) of Olive Branch, MS, Christie (Joey) Smith of Oxford, MS, Iiesha Ingram of New Albany, MS, Victoria Smith of Garland, TX; two grandsons: Keason Morton and Dallas Smith both of Memphis, TN, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by two uncles, John Sang DeBerry and Willie Lee DeBerry.
Visitation will be held 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, March 27, 2026, at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel 140 North Memphis Street, Holly Springs, MS 38635.
Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 28, 2026 at New Dimension Salt & Light Ministries, 565 Neely Ave. Holly Springs, MS 38635.
Burial will be at Memorial Park South Woods in Memphis, TN.
Services entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home of Holly Springs, MS.
