Cortaveus Devonte “Slick” Hawkins

Cortaveus Hawkins, 25, transitioned on Sunday, December 20, 2020 in a recent automobile accident in Taylor, MS. 

Cortaveus Devonte (Slick) Hawkins was born October 24, 1995 in Oxford, MS to Mr. Craig  and  Mrs. Shenetha Hawkins.  He  departed his life on Sunday, December 20, 2020.

Cortaveus was a 2014 graduate of Water Valley High School, and after graduating, he furthered his education at Northwest Mississippi Community College.

He was employed at Olin Winchester for 4 ½ years.  In his spare time, he enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends.

Cortaveus confessed hope in Christ at an early age and united with Union Hill C.M.E. Church in Water Valley, MS.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories,  his  parents, Craig and Shenetha Hawkins of Water Valley, MS;  one  sister,  Shanikque Hawkins of Oxford, MS; one brother, Jonathan Gaston of Water Valley, MS; a special friend, KeAuana Farrow of Water Valley, MS; his grandparents, Joe and Shirley Pomerlee and James Earl  Johnson of  Water  Valley, MS,  William and  Shelia  Hawkins of Oxford, MS; nieces and nephews, Aerteyianna, Caidon, Kylan and Kinsley, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother,  Exerlene Hawkins, two uncles, R. V. Hervey and Case Hawkins,  great grandparents,  Deslar Johnson, Leslie and Flora Hawkins.

Graveside Service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11a.m., at Union Hill C.M.E. Church Cemetery in Water Valley. Serenity-Daniels Funeral Home of Water Valley is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be on Sunday, December 27, 2020 from 4-6p.m. at Serenity-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel in Water Valley.
