Clarence Scruggs, 80, transitioned on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Alliance Healthcare, Holly Springs, MS.
Clarence Scruggs Jr. was born July 11, 1941. He was born the fourth child to the late Walter Jr. and Rebecca Scruggs in Ashland, MS. He was educated in the Benton County School System and professed hope in Christ at an early age. He later moved to Memphis, where he met and married the love of his life, the late Ernestine Kyles in 1977. There they raised four handsome boys, whom they loved dearly, Lee Eric, Andre, Renee, and Clarence. In Memphis, he worked and retired as a Security Officer. In his later years, Clarence retired back home to Lamar, MS, where he lived out his remaining years.
He was called to his heavenly home January 25, 2022.
June, as he was affectionately known by most who knew him, was loved by so many. His sense of humor like none other. He absolutely loved to joke and "check" people that he knew. He loved listening to old gospel, the blues and watching old western movies. When he loved you, you knew it. He leaves behind a void that can't be filled.
Clarence leaves behind to cherish his memories; three loving sons, Lee Eric, Andre Kyles, and Renee (Audrey) Scruggs; one grandson whom he took so much pride in and loved, Adarius Kyles; four brothers in whom he was extremely close, Luster and Billy (Ruby) Scruggs of Memphis, TN, Andrew (Ernestine) Scruggs of Ashland, MS and Charlie (Shelqueta) Scruggs of Holly Springs, MS; two loving and caring sisters, Delois (Levi) Taylor and Barbara Evans of Lamar, MS; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy Lee Kyles of Chicago, IL and Jessie Lee and Willie Kyes, both of Memphis, TN, and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Jr. and Rebecca Scruggs; dear wife, Ernestine; son, Clarence (affectionately known as "Lil Clarence'); three brothers, J.W. Scruggs, Jack Walter Scruggs, and William Scruggs; three sisters, Willie Mae Williams, Wilma Evans, and Lillie Mae Lesure; as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
