Christopher Ivy

Mr. Christopher Ivy, 56, transitioned on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. 

Christopher Ivy was born on June 26, 1964 to Willie Troy and Ernestine Ivy in New Albany, MS. On Tuesday, January 5, 2021, Chris transitioned from his earthly home and gained eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his father. 

Chris was baptized at an early age at True Bibleway Church in Blue Mountain, MS; it was later renamed United House of Prayer. He remained a member until his untimely death. Chris was a self-taught guitarist and often shared his love for music. He used his talent to serve as a church musician for many years. He also embodied the spirit of benevolence and used humor to help others.  From the “Ain’t No Ways” to the “Let me find outs,” Chris Ivy always had his way of making others laugh. 

In 1987, he married Felicia King.  She was his devoted wife for over 26 years.  They parented seven children together. 

He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Ernestine Ivy of New Albany, MS;  Felicia Ivy of Memphis, TN; four daughters, Ericka King, Feleha Ivy, and Tyesha Ivy all of Memphis, TN, and Aundrea (Chad) Edwards of Jackson, MS; three sons, Christian Jones of Nettleton, MS, Adrian (Amanda) Ivy of New Albany, MS and Marshall (Lexis) King of Colorado Springs, CO; fourteen grandchildren; four brothers, William Ivy, C.W. Ivy, Michael Ivy, and Andrew Ivy all of New Albany, MS; five sisters, Birdie Graham, Mary Graham, Ada Leona Pratt, and Annie Marie (Lee) Satterwhite all of New Albany, MS and Betty Shumpert of Ecru, MS;  an aunt, Annette Adams of Detroit, MI; and special friend: Krista Garner of New Albany, MS. Chris will be missed and forever remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Chris’ memory will also live on with each life he has touched and every person that graced his presence.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 4-7p.m., at Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home Chapel in New Albany. Burial will take place at United House of Prayer Church Cemetery in Blue Mountain, MS. Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
