Christopher Malique Brewer, 20,  of Oxford, MS, transitioned on Sunday, September 22, 2024

Christopher Malique Brewer made his arrival into the world earlier than expected on Nov. 21, 2003 in Oxford, Miss, to Christopher Townsend and Martina Brewer.

Malique, as he was affectionally known, departed this earth on Sunday, September 22, 2024.  He accepted Christ as his savior in 2019, at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, in Moorhead, Miss.

A lifelong Oxford, Miss resident, his education began at Kids College preschool in Abbeville, before transitioning to the Oxford School District. Malique, a defensive back on the OHS football team, was a member of the Oxford High School Class of 2022. He went to earn an associate’s degree from Northwest Mississippi Community College in May 2024.

At the time of his passing, Malique was an employee at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He also previously worked as a summer intern in the Paint Department at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Blue Springs, Miss. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed every moment of life spent outside. If you were ever looking for Malique, you could always find his Ford F150 near a lake with him nearby holding a fishing pole or at a Bass Pro Shop. One of his famous sayings was, “whatever job I do, I know I don’t want to sit at a desk.”

At other times, you’d find him on Ole Miss campus with friends or in his room reading a book about financial freedom.

Malique was preceded in death by two grandfathers, David Isbell and Lev Mister; and great-grandparents Charlie and Mosella Townsend, Sarah Seals, and Eddie Mae Anderson.

His life and legacy will forever be cherished by those who knew him. He leaves behind his parents, Martina (Kenneth) Brewer-Mister and Christopher (Sena) Townsend; four siblings: Cameron Mister, Zahra Amara, Zuri Abena, and  David Zaire Townsend; grandparents James (Albirdia) Brewer; Shirley Mister and Sandra Townsend; aunts and uncles, Christal (Marcus) Sykes, LaShanda Burton, Sandra (Lemar) Brewer, Atlean Brewer, Nicholas Brewer, James L. Brewer, Jr., Jeffrey (Dana) Mister, and Felicia Sanders, a host cousins and friends; and his furry friend, Meadow.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Clear Creek M.B. Church, 35 County Road 313, Oxford, MS  38652

Services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Clear Creek M.B. Church, 35 County Road 313, Oxford, MS  38652

Interment  will take place on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at New Hope M.B. Church Cemetery, 10062 Townsend Lane, West Point, MS  39773
