Cathra Sue Johnson, 65, transitioned on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Cathra "Kathy" Johnson was born on March 20, 1960 in New Albany, MS to Geroge and Annie Lou (Hill) Johnson. She peacefully and lovingly departed this life Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Kathy was a devoted sister, aunt and friend whose life was marked by love, dignity and resilence. Kathy was a graduate of WP Daniel High School in 1978. She was employed at Union County Health & Rehab as a Health Care professional for 17 years until retirement in March of 2025.
Kathy was a member of Zion Chapel MB Church. She served on the Food Service Committee and always had a friendly smile and great conversation for all who knew her. She enjoyed, going to movies, going out to eat, riding horses, going to concerts, looking gorgeous and enjoying being with friends and family. She lived life to the fullest!!
She was preceded in death by her parents; George and Annie Lou Hill Johnson, her grandparents; Walker and Annie Johnson and Annie Hill, her sisters; Mattie Faye Buford and Annie Senter.
She leaves cherished memories with her siblings; Annie Pearl (Rev. Lee) Howell, and Mary Joyce Johnson both of New Albany, MS, Georgia (Rev. John) Mosley of Racine, WI, Betty Jewel Johnson of Jackson, MS, and William "Bo" Johnson of Fayetteville, AR, a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends as well as her beloved Pastor, Rev. Jay Tucker, and the Zion Chapel MB Church Family.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 722 Coulter Drive, New Albany, MS 38652.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Zion Chapel M.B. Church, 1138 State Highway 30 West, New Albany, MS 38652.
Body will lie in state one hour prior to service time.
Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, New Albany, MS.
