Mrs. Carrie Mae Payne, 64, transitioned on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at her residence.
Carrie Mae Butler was born to the late James Butler, Sr. and Frankie Mae Butler. She attended and graduated from Byhalia High School. Carrie was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Charles Payne on July 25, 1987, of which she became Mrs. Carrie Mae Payne. They were united for 37 years. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Church where she served on the Stewardess Board until her health declined.
She is joined in eternity by her parents; James, Sr. and Frankie Mae and brother; Jimmie Butler.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband; Charles Payne, sister; Stella Jackson, brothers; Dan Butler, Larry Butler (Linda), James Butler, Jr. (Bonnie) and Clayborne Beard, sisters-in-law; Ruby Gaddy, Remell Gamble, Virginia Harvell (Robert) brothers-in-law; Gene Payne (Leveran) and Michael Payne, also, her one and only living aunt, Ada Wilkins and a host of nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., ,Holly Springs, MS 38635.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Mt. Pisgah C.M.E. Church, 3788 Cayce Road, Byhalia, MS 38611.
Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
