Mr. Bobby Gene Herron

Mr. Bobby Gene "Pretty Boy" Herron, 61, transitioned on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, in Indianapolis, IN.

Bobby G. “Pretty Bob” Herron was born on January 2, 1962 to the late Paul Hilliard and Jessie Herron in Oxford, MS. He was baptized at South Salem MB Church, later renamed New Salem, where he was a member until his death. "Bob," as he was called and his mother moved to Indianapolis, IN  in 1964. he was an only child until his mother had his sister Dana in 1975. He attend  Arsenal Tech High School where he completed 11th grade. 

In 1982 he joined the Army and later the National Guard where he served until 1987. On June 11th, 1983 he was joined in holy matrimony to Stephanie Hill. To this union one son Torrey was born. After this union Bobby met long time girlfriend Wanda and had 2 daughters Cilitha and Ashley. Bobby was the life of the party and loved to make everyone laugh with his famous quotes like“ Do your husband have a wife” and “same thing make you laugh, make you cry.”

 Bobby worked as a painter and local handy man. He departed this world on April 30, 2023 in Indianapolis, IN. 

He leaves to cherish his memories son, Torrey (Kristy) Herron of Memphis, TN, two daughters Ashley and Cilitha Herron both of Indianapolis, IN, grandchildren; Jayden Wilson, Jaylah Herron, and Jayda Coleman of Indianapolis, IN, Torrey Herron, Jr. of Memphis, TN, Kyle Stone, Kaylen Stone, Tyson Herron, and Kamila Herron all of Oxford, MS, sisters; Dana Herron of Oxford, MS, and Hazel Lewis of Nashville, TN, nieces; Tea’aira Pegues and Alecia Wells of Oxford, MS, nephews; Daymeon Pegues, Jayden and Thomas Wells all of Oxford, MS. Special aunt, Ruby Brown and Cousin Earnest Luster of Indianapolis, IN. 

He was preceded in death by his father and joined in eternity by his mother, on   May 6, 2023

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 294 Highway 7 North, Oxford, MS 38655.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at  Second Baptist Church, 611 E. Jackson Ave., Oxford, MS  38655.

Burial will take place at Oxford Memorial Cemetery, Oxford, MS.
