Mrs. Betty Jean Turnage, 88, transitioned on Monday, May 27, 2024, at her residence in  Holly Springs, MS

Betty Jean Turnage was born on July 25, 1935 to the late Egar Walton and Ruby Pegues Walton, in Marshall County, MS.   On Monday, May 27, 2024, she transitioned at her residence in Holly Springs, MS.

Betty accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Teamer C.M.E. Church in Holly Springs, MS. She was employed at Mulay Plastics in Holly Springs, MS for several years.  She loved fishing, cooking, gardening, watching television, and being around her family. 

Betty leaves to cherish her memories: two sons: Sylvester Turnage, Jr. (Evelyn) and Jeramiah Walton both of Holly Springs, MS; three daughters: Bobbie Turnage, Doris Turnage, and Dorothy Turnage all of Holly  Springs, MS; two reared in daughters: LaToya Johnson (Derrick) of Potts Camp, MS, and Silkncia Turnage of Holly Springs, MS; one brother: David Walton (Marie)  of Chicago, IL; three sisters: Marble McNeil, Mozella Walton both of Holly Springs, MS,  and Lillian Wagner of St. Louis, MO; nineteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchild; and ten great great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving parents: Egar Walton and Ruby Pegues Walton; husband: Sylvester Turnage; two sons: Lee Loyd Turnage, and Clevester Turnage, Sr. two daughters: Irene Walton, and Benita McKinney; six brothers: her twin Eugene Walton, Percy Walton, James E. Walton, Frank Walton, Luther Walton, and Poger Walton; three sisters: Lural Stinson, Opal Walton, and Remela Walton.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Services will be Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS  38635.

Burial will take place in Cottrell Memorial Garden, 505 NW Boundary St., Holly Springs, MS  38635
