Arthur Hayes Pegues was born January 25, 1959 to Marvelee Pegues and Catherleen Berry Pegues in New Albany, MS. On May 27, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Oxford, MS, he heard the gentle call of the Master to come and take your rest.
He was a graduate of W.P. Daniel High School. Hayes was employed by Masterbilt in New Albany for well over 30 years. He was a member of Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board and Food Service Committee. He loved to greet people with a friendly smile and a welcome attitude. He never met a stranger.
Hayes was a self-employed carpenter. There was never a job too small. He was always willing to help whoever needed him. He welcomed everyone into his home and took care of many, many people in the community that were in need. He loved to travel, listen to Gospel and R&B Music. He just didn't exist, He lived, and lived his life fully.

Shackelford, Winnie (Leo) Kimmons, Gwendolyn (Selma) McQueen, Marva Pegues and Norma Pegues all of New Albany, MS, Aletha (Rob) Gurley of Memphis, TN, one brother; Louis (Zettie) Pegues of Pontotoc, MS, one aunt: Carolyn Pegues of Memphis, TN, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, work families and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Marvelee and Catherleen Pegues.
Viewing will be Tuesday, May 31, 2022, 11:00 a.m., Service will begin at 1:00 p.m., at Zion Chapel M.B. Church, 1138 State Hwy. 30 West, New Albany, MS.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, New Albany, MS.
