Arelean Satterwhite

Mrs. Arelean Satterwhite, 89, transitioned on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Tupelo Nursing & Rehab, Tupelo, MS.

Arelean Ward Satterwhite was born on June 30, 1934 in Pontotoc, MS to the late Jim and Lena Ward. She was called home on June 24, 2023, at Tupelo Nursing & Rehab in Tupelo, MS. She accepted Christ in 1977. She was  one of the first members of Faith Revival Center where she was a Sunday School Teacher and member of the Kitchen Committee. She later joined her brother Excel Ward's church Faith Deliverance Temple which is now called Faith Deliverance Apostolic where she was a Mother of the Church and also served on the Kitchen Committee. She remained a member there until her health failed.

Mother Arelean was one of the most loving women that you could ever meet. She took great joy in helping others whether it was gardening, cooking, cleaning or taking care of the sick, she did whatever was needed for whoever was in need.

She was a former employee of Purnell Pride for ten years. After leaving Purnell, she became a private sitter for the following families, Mrs. Ethel Gove and granddaughter, Diane, Shaun and David Brevard, Mary Connor, David Adcock and Dr. William and Linda Lee Brawner, whom all became close family until death. 

She leaves to cherish her warmest and fondest memories four daughters: Sallie Westmoreland, Jurlean Satterwhite, Alisa Hersey and Stephanie (Joseph) Fitzpatrick, and one son, Rickey Satterwhite, ten grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren, two sisters: Earnestine Floyd and Cecila Hall, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Satterwhite, her parents Jim and Lena Ward, brothers; JC Ward and Excel Ward, sisters; Ora Randle and Ruby Marion, grandson, Bernard Westmoreland.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, from 4:00 p.m.. to 6:00 p.m., at Victory Holiness Church, 206 Adams St., Tupelo, MS 38801.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at Temple of Compassion & Deliverance, 1148 North Madison St., Tupelo, MS 38804. 

Burial will take pace at Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church Chesterville, Belden, MS.
