Ardelia Roberts Obituary

Mrs. Ardelia Jeffries Smith Roberts was the oldest of nine children born to the late Mr. Willie Claborn Brown, Jr. and Mrs. Lillie Ree Jeffries-Brown on September 15, 1949 in Holly Springs, MS.

Ardelia accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and became a member of Jones Grove M B. Church, in Holly Springs, MS.  She later changed her membership to Providence M.B. Church, in Holly Springs, MS.  She rejoined Jones Grove M.B. Church where she remained a member until death.

In 1966, Ardelia was united in holy matrimony to Mr. R.C. Smith and moved to Chicago, IL and to this union one child was born.  In later years, she married Willie Roberts, Jr.

She attended Holly Springs High School and graduated with the Class of 1972.

Ardelia worked many jobs in her lifetime

Ardelia departed this life on March 12, 2020 at Alliance Healthcare System in Holly Springs, MS.  Ardelia passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.  She was a true believer in God.  A woman of strength, who loved her family unconditionally.  Throughout her life she always maintained to find joy in serving the Lord.  She was able to fulfill her love of cooking, talking, giving, babysitting, and helping others.

Ardelia leaves an outstanding legacy of love, peace and precious memories: Five daughters,  Brenda Jeffries-Mosley (Ternard)  of Holly Springs, MS,  Arlandan Smith-Talley of Memphis, TN,  Sharon Smith-Quinn (Willie Ray)  of Holly Springs, MS,  Sharuna Smith of Holly Springs, MS, Kristel Smith of Marietta, GA; one son, Sylvester Smith of Holly Springs, MS: 16 loving grandchildren, two special granddaughters Terri Jeffries-Harvey and Sheena Smith, 11 great great-grandchildren, two special great-granddaughters, my little helpers Aniyah Harvey and India Jeffries, three sisters, Elnora Jeffries (Calvin) of Waterford, MS, Geneva Brown (Stephen) of New Albany, MS, Wanda Taylor-Kizer (Robert) of Holly Springs, MS, two brothers William A. Jeffries of Holly Springs, MS,  James Claborn Brown of South Carolina; two aunt’s  Frances Marie Jones of Memphis, TN, Marline Brown-Martin of Denver, CO, one uncle Johnny Brown (Linda) of Denver, CO, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Willie Claborn Brown, Jr. and Lillie Ree Jeffries-Brown, husband Willie (Slim) Roberts, Jr., son Patrick C. Smith, brother Robert Lee Jeffries, sister Ella Ree Jeffries-Jamison.
