Carolyn Beacham Oatis was born on July 5, 1921 to the late George Beacham and Mary Robinson-Beacham in Hazelhurst, Mississippi. She worked as a center director for Head Start for many years.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sons: Kennieth R. Oatis (Luvenia) of Memphis, TN, Joseph C. Oatis, Jr. (Bonnie) of Plano, TX, and Melvin J. Oatis (Nancy) of Lamar, MS; six daughters: Edith L. Wright, of Virginia Beach, VA, Joe Ann Oatis of Baltimore, MD, Catherine E. Porter (Charles) of Felton, DE Gwendolyn Jones of Memphis, TN, Audrey Oatis of Newsome (Earl) of Bowie, MD; one brother: Joe Beacham of Dallas, TX; thirteen grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.
