NEW ALBANY- Mrs. Betty Jean “Gaynel” Judon Finley, 77, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born on August 31, 1941 in Pontotoc, MS to the late Synic Judon, Sr., and Willie Ann Judon-McKnight. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age at Union Grove M.B. Church in the Pumpkin Center Community. Gaynel was educated at North Pontotoc School. She was employed at Piper Impact and the New Albany School System for several years.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 12 Noon at New Birth Community Church in New Albany with Pastor Jonathan Tucker-Pastor and Pastor Rayfield Cameron, Sr., delivering the eulogy. Burial will take place at Union Grove Church Cemetery in New Albany. Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories her children: Jevetia Finley, Felecia Finley, Timithy (Laura) Finley all of New Albany, Katina Judon, Bernard Judon, Tameka (Anthony) Shumpert all of Tupelo, MS. Sisters: Christene Jackson, Marie (Mack) Knox both of New Albany. One brother: Synic, Jr. (Essie) Judon of Tupelo, MS. A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Special friends: Virginia Jew Mathis, Eric Blanchard, Jenny Brown, Jabbo High, Yolanda Rucker, Dave Gilbert, Bridgett Copeland, Helen Bowling and Linda Schooler. A host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: William C. Ragland and a sister: Willie M. Ragland Bailey.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 4-7p.m. at Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home Chapel.
