Mother Lela Johnson

NEW ALBANY- Mother Lela Johnson, 87, passed away early Sunday morning, November 4, 2018 at her home in New Albany. She was born May 7, 1931 in New Albany, Mississippi to Andrew Edwards and Annie Hodges Edwards. Both parents preceded her in death. Lela accepted Christ at an early age and joined Beaver Dam M.B. Church which she loved and worked faithfully in different ministries of the church. She served on the Mother's Board.

She was united in marriage to the late Andy Johnson, Sr. and through this union she was blessed with four children.

Services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 2p.m. at Beaver Dam M.B. Church in New Albany with Pastor Benny Cobb delivering the eulogy. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.

She leaves to cherish her sweet memories one son: Andy Jr. (Sandra) Johnson, daughters: Irene and Bernice Johnson all of New Albany, MS, Pauline (Wayne) Hereford of Tupelo, MS, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, one brother: Andrew (Cliff) Edwards of Alabaster, AL, one close sister-in-law: Novis Edwards of Springfield, MA, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 4-6p.m. at Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home Chapel.
