Louis H. Norwood was born October 12, 1922 to Henry and Mary Norwood, who preceded him in death, in Pontotoc Co., MS.
He confessed a hope in Christ in 1972, and baptized at Watson Grove M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Chester Cobbs. Louis served as Ward Leader and Trustee, he was the oldest living member of Watson Grove.
Louis served in the U.S. Army from December 3, 1942 to November 27, 1945, ranking PFC 7956 Quarter Master Service Company in World War II. Returning home he trained in auto mechanics and plumbing at Rust College. He was also a chauffer in Birmingham, AL, in the early 60's he made mortar for twenty brick layers at W.P. Daniel High School during its construction. He was an auto mechanic at Tutor Ford in New Albany for over 20 years, he later retired from Norwood's Plumbing and Electric.
Louis was united in marriage to Juliette Kimmons on July 19, 1947 who preceded him in death. To this union four children were born, one daughter Paulette Norwood preceded him in death.
He leaves to celebrate his homegoing, three children; Louis A (Barbara) Norwood of Florissant, MO, Julia A. (Alvin) Parks of Myrtle, MS, and Gwendolyn O. (Robert) Sherpherd, Houston, TX, eight grandchildren Cynthia, Alvin Jr. (Kaye), Maude, Velletta, LaTonya, Shanit, and Elesha, five great grandchildren; Jasmyne, Arshaun, Brianna, Anderson, and Jodi; one special niece Betty E. Bell of Florissant, MO, two special nephews Glenn Bell and Billy Joe Garner both of New Albany, MS, a very loving and special friend Mary Shackelford.
He is preceded in death by seven siblings Carlee, Pauline, Nazerine, Annie, Jessie, Sammie, and Archie.
