Etta Mae Norman Dockery began her earthly life on October 15, 1947, in Wyatt, Mississippi. She was the ninth child and youngest of the late Arana Liggins Norman and David Norman, Sr. Etta attended Henry High School and worked in the community for over 20 years.  She began her work career in the factory Industry and advanced to retire from Milwaukee Tools. Once retired, she returned to her passion of nurturing children. She was blessed through her prior marriage with three lovely children.  Her Christian journey with Christ started at an early age when she joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where her membership remained.  Her faith in God never wavered despite of her ups and downs in life.

As we reflect on Etta Mae “POP”, We recall with great fondness that she was very talkative and fun to be around. As a teenager she was one of the greatest metal hula hoop twirlers around. She won the right to compete in the state championship in Jackson, Mississippi.  Etta spent a lot of time, fishing, planting flowers, playing and sewing for her nieces.  She was the gate keeper of her family and did what it took to keep them safe and secure. As a mother, sister, grandmother, mother-in-law, great-grandmother, she was one in a million.  Etta always kept an open door policy, speaking softly, being patient, displaying plenty of wisdom, rising up firmly when the occasion presented itself, and gathering family for the yearly reunion.

Etta’s earthly journey ended on December 6, 2019 when she answered God’s call to come to her heavenly home. She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons; Errister Dockery and ErriK (Ciara)Rogers; one daughter, Taunya Martin, one  grandson Errik Webb, whom she reared. One sister, Bertha Norman Rodgers, one sister-in-law, Willie Morris Norman, and one brother- in-law, Clint Richmond all of Byhalia, MS; Four additional grandchildren; Eugene Taylor, Arana Taylor, Jatari Rogers and Sariah Rogers; Six great-grandchildren: Zameryia Braxton, Anthony and Alaya Caldwell; Jayden, Ja’leah, and Elijah Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

Proceeding her in death are her parents, 5 brothers-Arthur, R.D., Bobby, Howard, and David Norman, Jr.; 2 sisters-Luvenia Richmond and Ella Mae Tunstall.
