Courtney Omar ("Scrap") Gilbert

On October 23, 1985 the Lord saw fit to bring a high spirited all around young man into the world named Courtney Omar Gilbert. 

Courtney was a person of strength and love, he had a smile for everyone he came in contact with.  Courtney spent most of his life growing up in Pontotoc County, he attended Pontotoc City School.  He was a member of New Salem M.B. Church in Pontotoc, MS.  Courtney loved to do yard work and fishing.  During his years he worked for Jackson Tree Service and Ms. Amy Thomas.  

Courtney leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Clytee Gilbert of Pontotoc, MS, his father Robert C. Schooler of Racine, WI, his grandmother Mattie Gilbert, wife April Stephens-Gilbert, four sisters LaTrina Gilbert (Jimmy), Veronica Gilbert (Clifton), Noriko Gilbert-Hinton (Eric) all of Pontotoc, MS, Jacqueline Schooler of Racine, WI, two brothers Christopher Collins (Latreka) of New Albany, MS, Robert Foster (Michelle) of Chicago, IL, he reared three children of the home Mar'Keavious, Aniyah and Briana, he had many nieces and nephews that he loved, and numerous cousins and friends.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. You will be missed

Courtney transitioned to be with the Lord on July 3, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Sam Gilbert, Eddie McGee, Luester McGee, J.W. Schooler and Mary Elizabeth Schooler, aunts and uncles. He was also preceded in death by his best friend Travontae Long on March 3, 2019.
