Cornelius “Neil" McKay was born June 13, 1958 to the late Freddie and Laura McKay in Lamar, MS.
Neil accepted Christ as his savior at Can chill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Willie Watkins.
Neil attended Old Salem Elementary and Ashland High School in Ashland, MS.
On June 13, 1981, he married his best friend, soulmate and the love of his life Teresa Hampton McKay, and to this union three children were born.
Neil loved fishing and farming.
On Friday, August 16, 2019, Neil departed this life at his home in Lamar, MS to be with the Lord.
He leaves to cherish memories his loving devoted wife, Teresa Hampton McKay of Lamar, MS;two sons, Jarvis (Katrina) McKay of Corinth, MS and Cornelius (Valene) McKay Jr. of Ripley, MS; one daughter, Kimberly McKay of Lamar, MS; three sisters, Rosie McKay of Potts Camp, MS, Clara (Harry) McKay of Holly Springs, MS and Aretha (Alfred) Worthy of Olive Branch, MS; three brothers, Roy (Devon) McKay of Holly Springs, MS, John (Dorothy) McKay of Potts Camp, MS and Layfette (Tracy) McKay of Benton, TN; nine brother-in-laws, Charles (Lovie) Cole, and David (Annette) Hampton of Lamar, MS, William (Annie) Cole, Sylvester ( Angela)Hampton, Jerry (Margaret) Hampton and Eddie Hampton of Ashland, MS, Darryll (Leighola) Hampton of New Albany, MS and Michael ( Tiffany) Hampton of Memphis, TN; two sister-in-law, Sarah (Mark) Hudson of Ashland, MS and Brenda Hoyle of Ripley, MS. Ten grandchildren, a niece and nephew that was raised as his brother and sisterAblerdia (Wayne) Brown and Karon Tucker. A special friend whom he also called brother, Minister Ray Crawford and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Laura McKay, two sisters Louise and Roberta, andone brother Freddie Jr.
