Corine was born in Panola County, MS on July 26, 1920 to Edward and Edna Smith.  Her departure occurred on July 25, 2019 in Marietta, GA.  She and her twin sister, Lorine, were the youngest of six daughters, all of whom preceded her in departing this world.  On September 15, 1942, Corine married Ernest E. Orange, and they were blessed with seven children.  In 1992, they celebrated the fifty (50) year anniversary of their union by reaffirming their marriage vows.

Corine’s life legacy was one that exemplified humility, compassion, nurturing, and courage.  She lovingly cared for and nurtured her seven children as a stay-at-home mother during the majority of their childhood years.  She was one of the early employees of what was then North Mississippi Retardation Center, caring for residents at its Woodlea Cottage.  She took an early retirement from her duties at the Center to become Ernest’s sole caregiver until his heavenly homegoing in October, 1999.  At the time of his passing, they had been united in holy matrimony for fifty-seven (57) years.

Corine was a humble Christian and was a member of Harrisonville MB church in her earlier life.  She later became a member of Clear Creek MB Church, where she and Ernest served and raised their children.  She enjoyed singing in the church’s Senior Choir during most of those years, prior to taking a leave of absence to care for Ernest during his sickness and failing health.

Corine’s seven (7) children blessed her with fourteen (14) grandchildren and five (5) great grandchildren:

Frank Orange (Debra) – Oxford, MS; Lyndon (Pam) Omaha, NE; Tony – (Oxford); Corinna – (Oxford)

Jesse Orange (Yzonna) - Oxford, MS – Brian (Dallas, TX); Jonathan (Oxford)

Ellis Arnold Orange (Vernesia) - Oxford, MS – Untray (Livingston,NJ); Jerome (Oxford); Chrisean (Oxford); Kinetta (Oxford)

Patsy Ann Pattman (James, Sr.) - Roswell, GA – James, Jr. (Roswell, GA); Great Grandchildren:  Jaese and Tristan

Ruby Nell Patton (Alvin) - Powder Springs, GA – Shalethia (Atlanta, GA); Tamara Ridgeway-Burrelle (Acworth, GA); Great Grandchildren:  Jonah and Naomi; Michaela Dillon-Edward (Gambrills,MD)

Ernestine Hoskin (Deceased) – Chase (Dallas, TX);Great-grandchild:  Dilynn Ernestine

Edna Ruth Orange (with whom she and her beloved husband, Ernest, shared a special and cherished bond) – Powder Springs, GA.

Corine also leaves to mourn her departure, nieces, nephews and other relatives from the lineages of her departed mother and sisters.

There are those whose lives death cannot diminish.  Their love radiates forever in the hearts of family and friends.  Such is the life of Corine Orange; and so we celebrate her life that was indeed well-lived.  She was and is truly a portrait of grace and the virtues of a Godly woman.  She embraced being a wife, mother, and grandmother with unrivaled grace and dignity that demanded the unconditional love and respect that her family demonstrated and showered upon her.

While we sorrow the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, beloved aunt, and cousin, we sorrow not as those who have no hope.  Along with our tears and sorrow, we know that her departure is only the end of life on earth and the beginning of life in heaven with her Lord and Savior, and with her dear loved ones who have gone before her.  Because of the wounds suffered by Christ for our sake, we are assured that our mother and grandmother is now perfectly healed and is reveling in life eternal with God. We loved and cherished her dearly, but God loves her perfectly and completely.  In our deepest moments of grief and feelings of loss, we will look to Him and realize that He understands, and that He alone can heal our wounded hearts.
