Benny Lee Smith

Benny Lee Smith was born July 13, 1952 to the late Mary Anna Pegues Smith and Troy Cook in New Albany, MS.

Benny accepted Christ at an early age and joined Palestine Church.  He was a 1970 graduate of W.P. Daniel High School.

Benny was a very hard working person.  He was employed by the New Albany Gazette and Rutledge Printing Company for many years.  He was also employed at M.H.P., Ashley Furniture, Blue Mountain College, and Union County Heritage Museum.

Benny was a devoted husband to his wife Martha for 47 years, also a father to Lee Allen Smith.

Benny departed this life on July 1, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS

Benny leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Martha Jean Smith of 47 years, one son Lee Allen Smith, five brother's; R.C. (Pauline) Smith, George W. (Sarah) Smith, Walter (Ruta) Smith, Troy Cullens, Troy Cook Jr., three sisters Mary Joyce (Jessie) Gilbert, Martha Stevens, Constance (Anthony) Anderson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends 

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Anna Smith, His father Troy Cook and one brother George G. Smith.

He leaves also some very special friends Bill Rutledge, Kenny and Cathy Owen, Lindsey Owen Payne, Jill Smith, Tom and Gloria Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Owens and all the staff and management at Blue Mountain College.
