Mr. Walter Thomas "Blind" Rooks, 73, of Holly Springs, MS, transitioned on Friday, March 29, 2024, at his residence.
Walter Thomas Rooks “Blind”, was born on December 25, 1950 to the late Richard Rooks and Lucille Ayers Rooks, in Ashland. MS. On Friday, March 29, 2024, he transitioned at his residence. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Powell Chapel M.B. Church in Holly Springs. MS.
Walter graduated from Old Salem High School in Ashland, MS. He also graduated from Foster’s Barber College In Ripley. MS. Walter was employed as a landscaper for several years. He loved cooking, football especially the New England Patriots, basketball. And being around his family and friends.
Walter leaves to cherish his memories: wife Carol Woods Rooks of Holly Spring, MS; three sons: LeSean Shandell Rooks, Sr., and Lamonte Woods both of Holly Springs, MS, and Antwan Boyland (Amanda) of Fl; four brothers: Joe Ray Rooks of Holly Springs. MS. Freddie Rooks of Fl. Robert Rooks of St. Paul, MN, and James Richard Rooks of LA; one sister: Brenda Faye Stinson (Lawrence) of Holly Springs, MS; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; former wife: Bettye Jean Rooks Greer of Booneville, MS; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Walter was preceded in death by his loving parents: Richard Rooks and Lucille Ayers Rooks; four brothers: George Rooks. Milton Rooks, Sylvester Rooks, and Clarence Rooks; five sisters: Doril Sharp, Doris McDaniel, Mattie Rooks, Martha Rooks, and Mary Montez.
