Ida’s Story

Ida Lee Goode was born January 30, 1934 to the late Audrey Lumpkins and Mary Lee Orman Lumpkins in Ashland, MS.  

Ida confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hickory Flat, MS.  She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and flower gardening.  She loved taking care of her children, her dog Jack, and raising chickens.  On Thursday, April 25, 2024, Ida departed this life.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories; four sons: David Hopkins (Pam) of Potts Camp, MS, Dennis Hopkins of Holly Springs, MS, Jimmy Hopkins (Misty), and George Hopkins both of Laws Hill, MS; three daughters: Geneva Yeager (Jimmy) of Holly Springs, MS, Linda Mercer (Sammy) of Myrtle, MS, and Judy Leopard (Larry) of Victoria, MS; daughter in law: Darlene Hopkins of Faulkner, MS; one brother: Wesley Lumpkins (Edith) of Ashland, MS; two sisters: Pauline Leitschuh of Michigan City, MS, and  Sarah Thomas of Ashland, MS; twenty four grandchildren, fifty four great grandchildren, fourteen great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Audrey Lumpkins and Mary Lee Orman Lumpkins; husbands: William Hopkins and Delmar Goode; two sons: Bobby Hopkins and Clyde Hopkins; one daughter: Mary Russell; two brothers: Clyde Lumpkins and Claudie Lumpkins; one sister: Fay Thomas; and three grandchildren: Blake Hopkins, Bud Hopkins, and Sylvia Smith.

Visitation will be held on Sunday,  April 28, 2024, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., , and Services will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS  38635.

Burial will take place at New Hope Cemetery, Ashland, MS
